Malda, Mar 10 (UNI) A Madhyamik examinee, found in possession of fake currency worth Rs 70,000 of Rs 500 denomination, was today arrested near Kaliachak police station of the district.
Youths of this district, which shares its border with Bangladesh, is exposed to fake note dealers, who have chosen them to avert being noticed by the law enforcement authorities, police said here.
The young boy, a Madhyamik examinee, is suspected to be merely a carrier, playing small role in a much bigger racket in the state, police added.
Malda SP Satyajit Banerjee said that he was presently in remand and was being interrogated.
Since he is still a student, the case is being given more priority, since such youths were increasingly becoming falling prey to such raxketeers, he said.
The boy had, earlier, been taken to Malda Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate's court, where he was ordered to police remand.
