Seven Kiwi players up for sale in second IPL auction

By Staff

Wellington, Mar 10 (UNI) Beaming from their first test win against England, the Black Caps arrived here with an extra reason to smile as some of the New Zealand cricket stars go under the hammer at the second IPL auction to be held tomorrow in Mumbai.

The seven New Zealand players up for sale are Ross Taylor, Jamie How, Chris Martin, Kyle Mills, Jeetan Patel, Peter Fulton and James Franklin.

It means almost the entire black caps starting eleven could be tied to IPL contracts.

''I don't think there's a limit in terms of the amount of New Zealand players entering the IPL,'' NZ Cricket CEO Justin Vaughan said. ''The more the merrier.'' But that attitude could backfire on NZ cricket, with those players now likely to seek a late arrival for the kiwis' tour to England in April, to maximise their earning potential with the IPL.

NZ cricket hope to resolve the issue by next week.
