Rajya Sabha election in Arunachal on March 26

Itanagar, Mar 10 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today announced to conduct election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Arunachal Pradesh on March 26.

In a notification, the Commission fixed the last date of filing nominations on March 15, date of scrutiny on March 17, last date of withdrawal of candidature on March 19 and the poll will be held on March 26.

Counting of votes will be taken up immediately after closing of poll and the election procedure shall be completed by March 29, the notification said.

The secretary and deputy secretary of the Arunachal Legislative Assembly have been appointed as Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer respectively for the election.

The composition of the 60-member Legislative Assembly is Congress-43, Independent-14, Arunachal Congress-2 and BJP-1.
