As soon as the Question Hour ended, leaders from the NDA and Left both wanted to speak on the contentious issue first which led to pandemonium in the House. The NDA members, carrying photocopies of the newspaper clippings, trooped into the well of the House, demanding action againt the Left workers.
Amid the din, Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan intervened and told the NDA members that as per understanding between floor leaders in the Chairman's chamber, Left leader Sitaram Yechury will be given the first opportunity to speak.
To which, BJP member S S Ahluwalia raised an objection to and the NDA members trooped into the well of the House, leading to the adjourment.
Earlier, noisy scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha over the issue. As soon as the House assembled for the Question Hour, the Left parties were up on their feet demanding a discussion on the alleged attack on CPM's office by BJP and RSS workers. Shouting slogans like 'Yeh gudagardi nahin chalegi' (this goondaism will not do), the left members did not allow the proceedings of the House to continue.
Chairman Hamid Ansari's plea to maintain order and allow the House to proceed fell on deaf ears.
Amid the uproar, the Chairman said,''I have recieved several notices on the issue which will be taken up after the Question Hour.
It will be up to the Government to respond in the matter.'' However, his statement failed to pacify the members who continued with the uproar.
It was only after Minister for Parliamentary affairs P R Dasmunsi assured the members that the Government would make a statement on the issue after Question Hour did the members relented.
