Principal, teachers held for aiding mass copying
Kaushambi/Fatehpur, Mar 10 (UNI) A school Principal and eight teachers were put behind bars for aiding mass copying after Secondary Educaton Minister Rangnath Mishra made a surprise raid at six examination centres in Kaushambi.
On a tip-off, raids were conducted at six centres, where teachers, who were on invigilation duty, were caught red-handed providing help to students in clearing their examination papers, Mr Mishra told the newspersons.
Exam was immediately cancelled at the centres and concerned teachers and principal were arrested.
Similarly, ten people were arrested in Khaga tehsil area of Fatehpur district after recovery of about four dozen UP board secondary and higher secondary answer sheets from them.
According to official sources, raid was conducted at a accomodation of Ghata town, where dozens of answer sheets were seized and 10 persons were held for aiding cheating.
Superintendent of police K S Pipal said they conducted raids on a complaint that few education centres are using illegal means to have good merit.
A case had been registered in Ghata police station and accused had been sent to jail.
Meanwhile, Mr Mishra had ordered a probe into the matter.
