Lucknow, Mar 10: The Opposition Samajwadi Party and BJP today attacked the Uttar Pradesh government on abnormal price rise after the imposition of the Value Added Tax (VAT) in the state.
The Samajwadi Party and BJP were on their feet in the House , alleging that the price rise of various commodities in the state had increased and the state government was a mute spectator.
State Trade Tax Minister Nakul Dubey argued that the prices of about 100 commodities had come down after the VAT was implemented but it did not convince the Opposition members. The opposition members kept on arguing that the price rise in the state had been astronomical and the government was unable to control it.
The SP and the BJP members staged a walk-out in the House in protest.
