NSUI and Youth Congress elections soon- Rahul
Bhubaneswar, Mar 10 (UNI) All India Congress Committee General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today announced to hold the organisational elections for the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Youth Congress soon.
Mr Gandhi said the students and youths winning the elections would be allowed to lead the party organisations.
Addressing a meeting organised by the NSUI here, Mr Gandhi said the doors of the organisations would be opened for everybody, irrespective of their caste, religion and educational qualifications and anyone who performs better would be allowed to lead, he said.
'' In political organisation promotions were not given for better performances but for some other reasons,'' he said, adding that the leaders having good support among the youths and students would be promoted.
Mr Gandhi appealed to the students and youths to join politics to bring a change in the current political scenario and make the society corruption free.
'' If you do not join the politics it would remain as it is,'' he told the NSUI supporters.
Mr Gandhi said during his four-day visit to the state, he saw poverty and backwardness in many places. At one place he found only one school for 8000 people and only one student having a college degree.
He said the state would not progress if education was ignored.
At one point in time, the AICC General Secretary, skipped the security cover and jumped the barricade to mingle himself with the waiting NSUI activists. He invited questions from them and replied much to the delight of the students.
