INLD stages walkout, one member suspended for session
Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) The opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) today staged a walk out from the Haryana assembly today after one of the party members was named for trying to intimidate a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator.
The INLD legislator, Ramphal Chirana, was later suspended for the remainder of the session after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala, tabled a motion to this effect following the INLD walkout.
The trouble began when INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala was speaking on the Governor's address during which members of the treasury benches repeatedly raised points of order.
When BSP member Arjun Singh also joined them, some agitated INLD members asked him to sit down. However, as Mr Singh refused and strongly objected to their behaviour, a group of INLD members led by Mr Chiran moved towards him aggressively.
Following this, Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian named him and he was escorted out by the marshal.
In protest against the Speaker's move, Mr Chautala led his partymen out of the house.
