Imphal, Mar 10 (UNI) The sitting of Manipur Assembly resumed today amidst tight security after a bomb attack by suspected militants on Saturday last.
Official sources said the main road on northern side of the House has been sealed completely and only vehicles of the members were allowed to ply.
The traffic on the eastern side of the complex was however normal.
All the four corners of the complex were being guarded, sources said adding that all the towers were manned by adequate numbers of personnel.
The security arrangements taken up today was carried out as decided by a high-level meeting convened by state DGP Y Joykumar yesterday.
Speaker Sapam Budhichandra along with other members of the House , have condemned the attack and the state Cabinet had also discussed the issue terming it as an act of terrorism.
Imphal Traffic Police Officer in Charge, the Deputy Superintendent P traffic Imphal and four other personnel have been placed under suspension in this regard.
Imphal West SP Clay Khongsai has also been transferred to Thoubal district.
Though the proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of kangleipak (PREPAK) had claimed responsibility over the attack, it has meanwhile rubbhished the fact.
