Governor invites MPA to form the govt. in Meghalaya
Shillong, Mar 10 (UNI) Governor S S Sidhu today invited the NCP-led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance to form the next government in the state.
Talking to reporters after staking claim to form the government, NCP chief P A Sangma said the governor had invited the Nationalist Congress Party-United Democratic Party combine to form the ministry.
He said the government would be sworn in later this evening.
Earlier, in a show of strength, the combine UDP and NCP-led MPA paraded 30 of its 31 MLAs before the governor and staked claim to form the new dispensation.
The 30 legislators, barring former Chief Minister E K Mawlong, was led by MPA's Chief Ministerial candidate Dr Donkupar Roy and handed over the letter of support signed by all 31 MLAs to Mr Sidhu.
