CPI demands treason case against Thackeray
Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) The CPI today demanded that the Maharashtra government institute treason cases against Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray and his nephew Raj Thackeray for fanning ''hatred'' and ''regionalism'' in the country.
CPI State Secretary Badri Narain Lal told reporters here that both the leaders had been spreading hatred against north-Indians, particularly the Biharis living in Maharashtra and they were being targetted by the fanatic elements in the state.
''Both the leaders have indulged in anti-national activities by instigating the local people to drive out Biharis from the state, who were living there since long,'' he said, while adding that the trend was a serious threat to unity and integrity of the country.
''The party will launch public awareness programmes throughout the state from April 22 - May 5, to expose the growing corruption and rising prices of essential commodities in the state,'' Mr Lal stated.
