Canara Bank plans branch in China, Attari border
Amritsar, Mar 10 (UNI) Canara Bank planned to open more branches in foreign countries besides undertaking expansion in across the country, Chairman-cum-Managing director M B N Rao today said here.
The bank would soon open a branch in China's financial capital Shanghai. Canara Bank already has presence in London and Hong Kong, Mr Rao told mediapersons after the launch of the bank's ATM-cum-ticket reservation kiosk at the Railway station here.
Mr Rao also said that with the increase in trade between Pakistan and India, the Bank was planning to open a branch near the Attari-Wagah joint border post.
At present Canara Bank has more than 2600 branches, while 1800 ATMs were working round the clock, which would soon be expanded to 2000, he said. In Punjab, the bank was operating through 68 branches and more branches would be opened according to the demand, he said.
Regarding the Kiosk which was inaugurated today, Mr Rao said that any customer having a debit card would be able to purchase train tickets comfortably.
He said that Canara Bank stressed upon a responsible and customer-friendly work culture due to which it was popular among people.
''We have started many special plans for middle income group and were offering many loan facilities for this group. In the education loan sector, Canara Bank was a leader, '' Mr Rao said.
