Buchanan arrives in Kolkata with IPL assignment

By Staff

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) Former Australian coach John Buchanan arrived here today as part of his fact-finding mission for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

John, who will coach the Kolkata team for the IPL, is expected to have talks with Sourav Ganguly today. Ganguly will lead the Kolkata team.

Tomorrow Shah Rukh Khan comes to Kolkata for the first time for the IPL and oversee the preparations at Eden Gardens.

Buchanan recently said, ''I'll be spending a couple of days in Calcutta... It will be more a fact-finding mission and about making myself familiar with what's a new challenge.'' Buchanan, it may be recalled, had phenomenal success as Australia's coach from late 1999 to April 2007.

IPL officials said Buchanan had no prior appointments, though during the course of the day he might meet some people connected to the IPL.
