2.58 lakh farmers get interest remission in Haryana
Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Cooperation Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha today told the state assembly that over 2.58 lakh farmers were given benefit of interest remission to the tune of Rs 177.74 crore upto December 31, 2007.
In a written reply regarding waiving of interest on loans taken by the farmers from Cooperative Banks, Mr Chatha said in case of short term loans, over 2.58 lakh farmers were given benefit of interest remission to the tune of Rs 177.74 crore upto December 31, 2007.
He said that under long term loans, over 1.05 lakh farmers had availed the benefit of interest remission of Rs 270.27 crore upto December 31, 2007.
According to the district wise statement of interest remission benefit of short term loan given to farmers, a maximum number of 27,305 farmers had been benefitted in district Bhiwani and a minimum of 3610 in district Rohtak.
Similarly, in case of long term loans, a maximum of 14,319 farmers have been benefitted in district Bhiwani and a minimum of 426 in Panchkula district.
In a question regarding construction of Railway over Bridge at Sirsa, the Public Works(Building and Roads) Minister, Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said that an estimate of Rs 30 crore for the project had been submitted to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
