14 sent in judicial custody in CPI(M) office attack case

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) A city court today sent 14 people, who were allegedly part of an unlawful gathering that attacked the CPI(M) headquarters here yesterday, in 14-days judicial custody.

Police arrested them under sections 147, 149, 353, 186, 332, 323, 427 and 440 of the Indian Penal Code.

It was alleged that they were part of the unlawful assembly that attacked the office of CPI(M) at A K Gopalan Bhavan inthe Capital yesterday.

All the accused today filed an application for bail before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar, who after their production in the court sent them in judicial custody.

The accused included Jeetram Solanki, Harish Awasthi, Prithviraj Sahni, Manoj Khandelwal, Vijay Pratap Pandey, Ms Sateshwari Joshi, Ram Niwas Goel, Yudhishtra Bhatia, Subhash Singh, Shyam Sharma, Shashi Menon, Sachin Purshottam and Moolchand Chawla.

The court, however, said the bail application of all accused would be heard on March 11.

The CPI(M) headquarters in the Capital was attacked yesterday by suspected RSS/BJP workers in retaliation for the bloody clashes between the workers of the two political outfits in Kerala over the week.

The attack took place when the Central Committee meeting was on and left four members of the Committee injured .

The attackers pelted stones and damaged the office building and vehicles parked outside.
