Two HM militants surrender in Reasi, Jammu
Jammu, Mar 9: Two top militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) surrendered along with arms and ammunition before Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir today, a Defence spokesman said.
''Two key local militants of the HM in Reasi district surrendered arms before the Commanding Officer 54 RR (MADRAS) under the aegis of 15 Sector Rashtriay Rifes and J and K Police,'' Defence spokesman Lt Col S D Goswami told UNI.
The militants were identified as Mohammad Mumtaj alias Tahir Siddiqui, who was acting as the 'Battalion Commander' of the outfit in Mahore area of the district and Mohammad Anzar alias Arsalan, who was Battalion Second-in-Command (2IC) in Barneli area, Lt Col Goswami informed.
Both the militants also handed over two AK-56 Rifles, one Chinese hand grenade, an ICOM radio set and 15 rounds of assorted ammunition to the security forces, he added.
