HP Governor's XI wins cricket match at Dharamshala

Shimla, Mar 9 (UNI) A friendly Cricket Match of 25-25 over between Himachal Pradesh Governor's XI and Punjab Governor 's XI was held at Dharmshala today, which was organised by Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

Punjab Governor's XI headed by Lt Gen Retd S F Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab won the toss and opted for fielding first.

Himachal Pradesh Governor's XI headed by Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje won the match by 4 runs, who had registered total 179 runs and set the target of 180 runs to win, for Punjab Governor's XI. In reply to this, Punjab Governor's XI registered only 175 runs.

Mr Anurag Thakur, President, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association was adjudged Man of the Match from Himachal Pradesh Governor's XI.

Mr Vishal Jagota of HP Governor's XI was the highest scorer by 71 runs.

Runners up trophy was presented by Mr V S Kokje to Punjab Governor's XI whereas winners trophy was presented by Lt Gen Retd S F Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab.

Mr V S Kokje, Governor of Himachal Pradesh lauded the efforts of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association which has come up with the modern International-Level Stadium at Dharmshala and even hosted couple of matches at Dharmshala where International teams like Pakistan, India (A), and South Africa (A), had participated through which be can promote cricket in the State of HP for which be should develop more State of art infrastructure as well.

Mrs Jean Rodrigues, Lady Governor of Punjab, Mr Manoj Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Kangra, Mr K K Pant, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Dr Atul Kumar, SP Kangra and office bearers and members of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association were also present among others on this occasion.
