Jammu, Mar 9 (UNI) A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant have been arrested in connection with the grenade attack on a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member's house in Reasi district wherein three people were killed and five wounded on Thursday night, official sources today said.
Acting swiftly after the attack, police parties arrested the alleged grenade thrower Abdul Rashid, a resident of Challad, from a hideout in the upper reaches of Arnas area last afternoon, sources said.
The VDC member, Mushtaq Ahmed, and his family was having dinner in their residence at Sani Top in Arnas area of Reasi when a grenade was lobbed in the house.
The VDC member's father and his two daughters were killed in the blast while five others including Mushtaq Ahmed himself, were wounded.
Police suspect the attack on the VDC member as an outcome of the HM commanders' direction.
Meanwhile, IGP Jammu K Rajendera, who monitored the operation, announced Rs 50,000 cash reward for the police party for arresting the accused.
