Agra, Mar 9: In order to curb criminal activities at the 'monument of love' Taj Mahal, CCTV cameras will be installed at every nook and corner. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Deputy Commandant R K Singh today told UNI that besides, other security arrangements Archeological Department of India's (ASI) High-Power committee would be placing at least 23 hidden CCTV cameras at the Taj premises.
''New high-tech cameras would help in maintaining strict vigil over the criminals and anti-social elements strolling at the Taj premises,'' Mr Singh said.
Main domb near river Yammuna and other areas of the historical monument, which earlier escaped the camera sight would now be under the digital eye, he said. Earlier, only four entrances were equipped with the CCTV cameras, but now with 23 hidden cameras it would be possible to keep an eye over the entire premises.
So far, the CISF has nailed at least 21 criminals, including pick-pocketers, eve-teasers, thieves and snatchers at the monument. Recently, a question was raised in the UP Assembly about increasing criminal activities at the Taj Mahal.
