Kohima, Mar 9 (UNI) Hectic political activity is on for formation of the new government with the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland bagging thirty seats, one short of the magic figure in a House of sixty.

Result from Suruhoto constituency is awaited.

The regional Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) and its main rival Congress won 26 and 23 seats respectively so far.

NPF-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), with BJP and NCP(which bagged two seats each) as alliance partners, is preparing to stake claim to form the next government. The combine was in power before President's Rule was imposed on the state on January 3.

BJP national vice-president V Satish is already here and is likely to hold discussions with the NPF.

Meanwhile, six Independents, who hold the key to formation of the next government, have reportedly confirmed their support to the NPF.

According to political observers, the Independents will be treated as hidden aces and could play a vital role in giving shape to the new dispensation. Political horse-trading was also not ruled out.

Just a day before the counting of votes, both the NPF and Congress had claimed that they would form the next government.

NPF leader and outgoing Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the people's verdict would go in his favour following imposition of President's Rule by dismissing his government.

On the other hand, Congress Legislature Party leader I Imkong was confident of forming the government and was ready to join hands with like-minded parties.

The party would also try its best to woo the Independents in its favour.
