Imphal, Mar 9 : The banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has reportedly owned responsibility for the bomb blast that took place in the Manipur Assembly premises.

"Our cadres exploded the bomb because MLAs and Ministers led by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh expressed strong opposition to the revolutionary activities of insurgent organisations in the current assembly session," the PREPAK said in a statement,

Six police personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) have been placed under suspension in connection with the blast, according to official sources. The militants drove up to the Assembly complex around 11.30 am and hurled the bomb on Saturday. The terrorists then drove away towards Imphal-Dimapur NH39.

The Manipur Assembly session, which began on February 20, will conclude on March 12.
