AP: Arrangements on for Sonia's visit

Hyderabad, Mar 9: All arrangements are in full swing for the visit of AICC President Sonia Gandhi to East Godavari District on March 14 for the inauguration of the Pushkara Lift Irrigation Project and addressing a public meeting.

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana, who was supervising the arrangements along with the local MLAs, MPs and MLCs. told UNI that nearly five lakh people were expected to participate in the public meeting at the Jaggampet in the East Godavari District.

Nearly five lakh water packets would be kept ready at the venue for the audience.

He said the trial run had been completed at the Purushotthpatnam and the water was flowing successfully from the irrigation project.

Police has tightened the security in and around Jaggampet, the venue for the public meeting, official sources said.

Special police parties have been stationed at Purushotthapatnam where Ms Gandhi would inaugurate the Pushkara Project.

The Congress leaders were busy mobilising people in huge numbers for the public meeting to make it memorable.

Ms Gandhi, who would spend two hours in the district, will reach the Madhurapudi Airport at Rajahmundry by special aircraft at 1030 hrs on March 14.

She will immediately leave for Purushotthapatnam by a helicopter where she would dedicate to the nation the Pushkara Project.

From there, she will fly to Jaggampet where she will address the public meeting.

Irrigation water would be provided to 80,000 acre ayacut during the kharif through the project.
