Arms dealer Suresh Nanda, son arrested
Mumbai, Mar 9 (UNI) Arms dealer Suresh Nanda and his son Sanjeev Nanda were picked up by the CBI from a five star hotel in the city last night, in connection with the alleged kickback in the Rs 1,150 crore Barak missile deal in 2000.
They were produced before Judge S N Sardesai of CBI designated court here today, which remanded them to CBI custody for further questioning. In the alleged kickback, the Nandas have received about Rs 160 crore from the missile deal.
The CBI sleuths have been hounding the Nandas ever since the kickback allegation surfaced following a sting operation by a magazine. During the operation, the involvement of Samata Party leader Jaya Jaitley had also figured, but she had denied it.
The CBI had earlier impounded the passport of Mr Suresh Nanda.
