Srinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) Despite a fatwa by Muslim Ulema against committing suicide, another man ended his life, second during the past 72 hours in the Kashmir valley.
Official sources said one Sartaj Ahmad Wani consumed some pisonous substance in his Sempora Pantha chowk house. He was immediately rushed to 92 Army base hospital where he died.
Wani was the second person who committed suicide in the valley during the past 72 hours.
On March 7 one Javid Ahmad Bhat hanged himself in a house at Lal Bazar.
A 40-year-old woman Tahira Begum made an attempt to end her life when she consumed some poisonous substance in her Sangri, Baramulla, house.
The trend of committing suicide by people in Kashmir had not stopped even after a fatwa was issued by Muslim Ulema against taking such an extreme step.
They said it was an un-Islamic act and against the teachings of propher Mohammad.
On March 2, a woman Razia Bano had also committed suicide in her house at Uri in north Kashmir.
