UP new home for terrorists after J
Gorakhpur, Mar 8 (UNI) Denouncing the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today charged Chief Minister Mayawati of failing to uproot terrorism and the state had become another den of terrorists after Jammu and Kashmir.
''Terrorists are active on Indo-Nepal border. Madarsas, adjoining the border, are mushrooming day-by-day. People of UP are insecure, but Mayawati is turning Nelson's eye to it and only interested in getting a SPG security cover for herself,'' state BJP president Ramapati Ram Tripathi said.
''Even the UP government has accepted in the state Assembly that 34 districts of the state are on the terrorists' hit list. The May 23, 2007 Gorakhpur blasts, November 23, 2007 serial blasts at Lucknow, Varanasi and Faizabad courts and blast at the CRPF camp in Rampur this year show that if serious steps are not initiated, UP will soon become the next Jammu and Kashmir,'' he underlined.
Mr Tripathi said except the BJP, every party was sheltering terrorists. It was sad that the central government was ''protecting'' Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru from being hanged.
He said the BJP was the only party which was committed to uproot terrorism, while other parties were keeping a mum on the issue to increase their vote bank.
