Jalandhar, Mar 8 (UNI) Police today arrested three migrant youths and solved the murder of 60-year-old man committed a few days back.
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kaushal told media persons here this evening that three youths identified as Samir Khan (20), Sanjay Kumar (26) and Bholla Khan (23), hailing from Rampur in Bihar, murdered one Harmesh Thakur, who used to live alone here at Basti Gazi Gulla.
The accused, who were tenats of the deceased and used to work as contract labourers with some caterers in marriage parties, first gave some sedative to Harmesh and then slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon on the intervening night of March 4 and 5, Mrb Kaushal said.
After committing the crime, the accused removed the gold ring of the deceased and also stole Rs 1100 from the room amd locked the house from outside and started living at Transport Nagar in the city.
This morning, when some neighbourers complained of foul smell emanating from the house, informed the police, who broke open the doors and found the decomposed body of Harmesh Thakur, the SP said.
A case under sections 302 and 34 of the IPC was registered against the accused and were taken into to custody.
