KC(S) urges Kerala CM to resign
Kottayam, Mar 8 (UNI) Kerala Congress (Secular) leader and MLA, P C George today urged Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan to tender his resignation, if he was ''unable to discharge his responsibilities.'' Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that the government was not doing anything to curb violence and to restore peace in Kannur, in order to divert peoples' attention from HMT issue.
KC (S)leader also criticised the Home Minister for not taking any steps to stop the violence in his constituency and urged Mr Achuthanandan to visit Kannur.
Releasing copies of the HMT land deal to the media, Mr George said the deal was not transparent. A Committee, headed by the Chief Secretary recommended the government to cancel mutation of the property in the name of Blue Star Realtors Pvt Ltd and to ensure that entire transaction on land was handled by the revenue department.
He disagreed with the Chief Minister's stance that it was for the court to settle the issue and alleged, if the court could settle all issues, there would be no need for a Government. The revenue department should file a fresh affidavit in the court, he added.
Mr George also alleged that the committee had recommended that the Revenue and Industries ministers should no longer continue in power.
