Governor S C Jamir was the first to hand-over a bouquet followed by Mr Kamat's cabinet colleagues, MLAs and a slew of politicians and citizens.
An unending stream of well wishers called on Mr Kamat and his wife, Asha, to convey their best wishes. A clown greeted at the entrance of the ''shamiana'' in front of house, where he hosted a lunch for all.
Despite, his appeal to the people to donate generously to the Chief Minister's relief fund instead of wasting money on bouquets and garlands on his birthday, people came out in large numbers with bouquets.
