International Women's Day observed in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 8; The International Women's Day was today observed at various places in Manipur by several organisations. The State Women Commission, Manipur unit of the Congress and other organisations observed the day at the State Guest House, Congress office and other places.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, Congress president Gaikhangam, MPs Rishang Keishing and Dr T Meinya and others spoke on the role of women in the society.

The Chief Minister also presented gifts to five old women selling goods at Khwairamband Keithel, the main market of Imphal where only women are allowed to sell goods.

Prof Ksh Bimola of the Manipur University spoke on the role of women in bringing peace in Manipur.

Other eminent speakers also spoke about the invaluable contribution of women in various fields.
