Chennai, Mar 8 (UNI) About 100 employees from the city's top corporates will vie for honours in the first Golf Amateur Tournament for Corporates to be held here on March 15.
The tournament, to be held on the lines of the traditional Merchants and Bankers Tournament in Kolkata, will be organised by the Rotary Club of Madras (RCM) and Aalchemy Management Funds to raise funds for charity purposes.
Talking to rewspersons here last night, RCM immediate-past President and Fund Raising Committee Chairman Ravi Katari said it would be ''golf with a social purpose''.
''We have confirmed 80 entries so far. By the time the tournament tees off on March 15, we will be having around 100 entries'', he said.
Mr Katari said prizes would be given for the winning and runner up teams as well as for the individual winner and runner up.
Individual events would be held in two categories - handicap 0 to nine and handicap 10-18.
All winners would be given the latest model Taylor made Driver while runners-up would receive a full size golf bag and umbrella.
Prominent companies who would be participating in the event included TVS, Murugappa Group, TTK, AVT, Cognizant, Nokia and MRF, among others.
