Local body polls: Deposit amount changed

Mumbai, Mar 8: Maharashtra government has decided to change the deposit amount for elections to local bodies in Municipal Corporations, and municipalities of A,B,C class.

According to the decision, the candidates for open category barring women will have to deposit Rs 5,000 for Corporation election and Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively for A,B,C class municipalities. The amount would come down by 50 per cent for women and reserved category candidates in all the cases.
