Deccan Geographical Society's Intl Conf in MP
Bhopal, Mar 8: India's development should not be at the cost of its future generation, Barkatullah University's former vice-chancellor Ramprakash said here.
Dr Ramprakash said this yesterday, while inaugurating the Deccan Geographical Society's Second International Conference on Globalisation, Technology and Economic Change, a three-day affair under the University's aegis. The event would be attended by more than 250 people from eight countries including Sri Lanka, Iran and Bangladesh.
''There is danger of a natural resource crunch due to spiralling consumerism and indiscriminate utilisation of resources,'' said Dr Ramprakash while stressing on afforestation.
Madhya Pradesh Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Sompal Shastri said some areas of the country were still undeveloped.
''Scientists should draft policies that will give maximum technical benefits to the general public,'' said University Vice-Chancellor Bhupal Singh who was presiding over the event that would witness the presentation of more that 120 papers.
