Rangpo (East Sikkim), Mar 8 (UNI) Indian football team captain and Padmashree awardee Bhaichung Bhutia today said he will continue playing professional football till his 'hunger' and 'enjoyment' were not fulfilled.
Speaking to reporters here at Rangpo, the border town of Sikkim, Bhutia said he wanted to play professional football as long as he enjoyed the game. '' The hunger to attend every practice match at the football ground and win every match should be there. It also depends on the mentality,'' he said on being questioned how long he will continue play professional football.
Bhaichung has been playing for the Indian football team for the past 13 years and 15 years in club football. He said that things have now changed in the Indian football team.
'' At one point of time, I felt there was nothing but things changed,'' said Bhaichung who had been thinking of retiring from national duty.
His close friend and JCT star Reneddy Singh said that Bhaichung is still the star of Indian football. '' He (Bhaichung) should continue as long as he remains fit. Since he does not have any major injuries, he should continue playing. He is still a star,'' Singh told UNI.
Indian footballer of the year Sunil Chettri said that Bhaichung has got the right motivation under national team coach Bob Houghton.
He has been putting a lot for the national team, Sunil Chettri added.
The Indian football team captain and his team mates Sunil Chettri and Rennedy Singh arrived in Sikkim today afternoon along with N P Pradeep, Chritain Dias, Gurmindar Singh to participate in an exhibition match.
The match will be played tomorrow between Bhaichung XI and Chirag United.
