AP to launch Indira Life Insurance scheme from April

Hyderabad, Mar 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that the Government would launch 'Indira Life Insurance scheme' for agricultural labourers from April 1 in the state.

According to an official release here, Dr Reddy said Rs 38 crore premium, as the Government's contribution will be handed over to the Insurance authorities before the AICC president Sonia Gandhi on March 14 at Jaggampet in East Godavari district, where she will inaugurate Pushkar Irrigation Project and address a public meeting.

Stating that identification of beneficiaries will start from March 10 and the finalisation of names will be completed on March 18 at Grama Sabhas, the Chief Minister said about 38 lakh agriculture labourers and their children will derive benefits from new Insurance scheme.

The Insurance company will pay Rs 75,000 to the families of the labourers, who died accidentally and Rs 30,000 for natural deaths.

Rs 1,200 as scholarship will be given every year to the children of beneficiaries to continue their studies.

The policy bonds will be distributed to the beneficiaries at Prajapatham programme, being organised from April 7 in all villages. The State Government and the Centre will pay Rs 200 as premium to the company.
