AP Governor distributes computers to Madrasas

Hyderabad, Mar 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari today distributed 160 computers to 75 Madrasas to provide computer educaton to Urdu medium students.

Speaking at a function organised by the Andhra Pradesh Urdu Academy here, the Governor said computers were playing a paramount role in imparting quality education, by changing the very nature of the delivery of education.

Stating that some of the best Universities in the world now have their lectures on the internet, he said such system should also be implemented in India.

State Minority Welfare Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir said the government had allocated Rs two crore for the purchase of computers in the next academic year against Rs one crore allotted in the previous year.

Already 67 Madrasas had been provided with 199 computers this year, he said, adding that with the help of major IT companies, computer training centres would be set up to provide training to the poor Muslim students.

The government would organise mass marriage programmes for poor minority communities from April, and Rs five crore was allocated for the purpose, he added.
