Panaji, Mar 7 (UNI) Electronics and home appliances manufacturing giant, the Videocon Group of Industries plans to open shop at Corlim in Old Goa soon.
Speaking to reporters in North Goa today, Videocon CMD Venugopal N Dhoot said he will welcome it, if the government gives the industry an SEZ status for reaping tax concessions.
Even otherwise, the company will open its industry related to knowledge park such as nano and biotechnology and electronics. He was not sure whether such high-end industry could employ 90 per cent of the Goans as per stipulation, if it wants to get subsidies.
Mr Dhoot, who is also President of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), said he has a site, measuring 35 acres, for opening the establishment.
He would like to hold back the proposal for want of assurance by the Government for according the SEZ status, he added.
