Security beefed up for Sonia's visit in AP

Kakinada, Mar 7 (UNI) Security had been beefed up in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh in view of AICC President Sonia Gandhi's visit to Jaggampet on March 14 for inauguration of Pushkara Lift Irrigation Project.

Police tightened the security in-and-around Jaggampet, the venue for the public meeting, official sources said. Special police parties would be stationed at Purushotthapatnam, where Ms Gandhi would inaugurate the project.

Ms Gandhi, who will spend two hours in the district, will reach Madhurapudi airport at Rajahmundry by special aircraft at 1030 hrs on March 14. She will immediately leave for Purushotthapatnam by a helicopter, where she will dedicate the project to the nation.

From there, she will fly to Jaggampet, to address the meeting.

Though the project was getting inaugurated to release water for 80,000 acres ayacut during kharif, more time would be taken for its completion.
