One million new jobs in India in 2008: Ma Foi

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Ma Foi Management Consultants Limited, the country's largest HR staffing and solutions provider, today said more than one million new jobs would be generated this year in various sectors.

The Ma Foi Employment Trends Survey, which captured the employment scenario of 22 sectors as of December 2007 and predicted the employment trends for 2008, was conducted across 2006 units spanning all major industry segments throughout the country.

Health sector reported the highest growth in recruitment at 8.9 per cent, followed by IT at 7.3 per cent, ITeS at 7.2 per cent and hospitality at 6.9 per cent.

The hospitality sector was shown to generate maximum number of employment in 2008 with 4,26,668 jobs. This sector was followed by health at 2,95,829 and Education Training and Consultancy at 1,66,005.

In the city analysis, Mumbai was poised to generate the highest number of employment, followed by Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata. In terms of the percentage change in employment between 2006-07 and 2007-08, Hyderabad was the forerunner, followed closely by Pune.

Bhubaneswar registered a growth of above 20 per cent in employment.
