Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asserted that it will not support the Indo-US nuclear deal in the present form.
''The BJP will not cooperate unless the deal is renegotiated,'' senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu said at a press conference here today.
''The UPA has sought to sign the deal unilaterally without consulting any political party even its allies like the Left, DMK or RJD, nor the opposition BJP,'' he charged.
'' You sign the deal and ask for our cooperation now,'' he charged, criticising the Prime Minister, who had urged to build a consensus over the deal in Parliament.
''The BJP's cooperation on the deal will depend on the PM's operation in the deal,'' he quipped.
The BJP will not bail out the UPA if the deal is signed in the present form,'' he said adding it infringes on India's sovereignty.
The Prime Minister had not done any homework before agreeing to the clauses in the deal.''Now he is asking the BJP to bail him out on the deal,'' he claimed.
