Harda, MP, Mar 7 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Revenue Minister Kamal Patel today alleged that his son Sandeep being charged in a case of firing, which took place late on Wednesday in this district's Devtal village, was part of a political conspiracy matched by his opponents in view of this year's assembly elections.
''Devtal-resident Congress leader Rajendra Patel, who has been my rival, hatched the conspiracy. My family is being targeted as the Bharatiya Janata Party's influence and mass base have increased in this district over the past few years. The Congress will not benefit from this conspiracy,'' he told mediapersons here.
Claiming that the vehicle -- which allegedly conveyed Sandeep to the scene of the crime -- was not even in Devtal on Wednesday, the Minister added that his son was in Bhopal.
''Shards of glass from the vehicle and spent cartridges, found on the scene, have been sent for analysis,'' said Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Jha. The vehicle, which allegedly conveyed the accused to the scene, is being traced. Meanwhile, the Congress called for a bandh here tomorrow.
Following Mr R Patel's complaint, a case was registered in Harda Police Station against Sandeep and three others. In the complaint, Mr R Patel claimed that he has been raising issues against the Minister and that was why Sandeep and his associates opened fire outside his residence. Mr Patel returned fire.
