Patna, Mar 7 (UNI) The Bihar Assembly today witnessed an uproar and could not take up the business enlisted for the pre-lunch session following the din created by the Opposition members over the issue of alleged manhandling of former CPI(ML) MLA Mahboob Alam inside the jail.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, CPI(ML) MLA Arun Kumar raised the issue of manhandling of Mr Alam. However, he was not allowed by the Chair to raise it following which the members of the entire Opposition trooped into the well and created noisy scenes.
Later, Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhry adjourned the House till 1200 hours when his efforts to bring order into the House went in vain.
As the members reassembled, Mr Kumar demanded a probe into the matter by a committee of the members of the House.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh informed the House that the government would make a statement on the matter during the post-lunch session.
Agitated over it, the Opposition members again trooped to the well shouting anti-government slogans.
Amid the uproar, state Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav said Mr Alam was just a prisoner and the medical treatment was being provided as per the jail manual.
The Opposition members became annoyed and continued to create noise in the House following which the Lower House was again adjourned till 1400 hours.
