Dehra Dun, Mar 7 (UNI) Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri today said the decision of Opposition Congress and BSP MLAs to boycott the Budget session of the Uttarakhand Assembly was ''unfortunate and a mere political stunt''.
Mr Khanduri, speaking in the Assembly, said ruckus by the legislators on the opening day of the budget session had forced the Governor to stop his speech midway, which was a matter of concern. For the last three days, protests and dharnas by the agitating legislators had been affecting normal business of the House, he added.
The Chief Minister said there were proper constitutional ways to rake up an issue and discuss it.'' Had the opposition called for a discussion, it would have been better.
Resorting to a boycott does not benefit anyone'', he said.
He said the MLAs had been disrupting normal business of the House for the last three days by taking up the issue of caste cerificates.
The opposition had given at least 219 solutions to resolve the caste certificate issue but not even one of them was applicable, he added.
