Housing Commission will benefit common people: CM
Mumbai, March 7(UNI) The establishment of Maharashtra Housing Sector Regulatory Commission will give solace to common people, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said here today during submission of 19th Report of the State Law Commission.
The report was submitted to the Chief Minister by Chairman of the Commission D N Chowdhry. Principal Secretary, (Housing) Swadhin Kshatriya was also present on the occasion.
The State's New Housing Policy was placed before the State Legislature on July 23, 2007, by Mr Deshmukh.
The policy is aimed to provide affordable housing to people from economically weaker sections, lower income groups and middle income groups. The policy had also suggested establishment of a Housing Sector Regulatory Commission with statutory status and jurisdiction of the entire State.
With reference to these recommendations the State Law Commission was entrusted with the responsibility of its detailed study. On the basis of this report, Government will soon place a bill in the State Legislature to establish the Housing Sector Regulatory Commission, Mr Kshatriya added.
