Gorakhpur bandh against medico's abduction
Gorakhpur, Mar 7 (UNI) Pharmacists today called a Gorakhpur bandh in protest against the abduction of psychiatrist Dr D C Maddhesia.
The bandh was also supported by all trading, social and cultural organisations.
Following the bandh, patients were posed with problems as all pharmacies, nursing homes and pathology centres remained closed.
Even the medical services in emergency wards remained paralysed.
On March 1, masked gunmen had kidnapped Dr Maddhesia and three others on Gorakhpur-Deoria highway.
Meanwhile, IG (Gorakhpur zone) G L Meena said police wass leaving no stone unturned to arrest the accused and rescue the victims from their clutches.
Owing to reports of Dr Maddhesia being taken to the neighbouring Bihar by the abductors, assistance of the Bihar police was also being sought and the case would soon be solved, the IG informed.
