Bhopal, Mar 7 (UNI) India's development should not be at the cost of its future generation, city-based Barkatullah University's former vice-chancellor Ramprakash said here today while inaugurating the Deccan Geographical Society's Second International Conference on Globalisation, Technology and Economic Change, a three-day affair under the university's aegis.
The event is being attended by more than 250 people from eight countries including Sri Lanka, Iran and Bangladesh.
''There is danger of a natural resource crunch due to spiralling consumerism and indiscriminate utilisation of resources,'' said Dr Ramprakash while stressing on afforestation. Madhya Pradesh Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Sompal Shastri pointed out that some areas of of the country were still undeveloped.
''Scientists should draft policies that will give maximum technical benefits to the general public,'' said University Vice-Chancellor Bhupal Singh who was presiding over the event that is scheduled to witness the presentation of more that 120 papers.
