Cabinet approves Amendment to ICWA Act, 2001
New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the introduction of a Bill in Parliament for amending the Indian Council of World Affairs Act, 2001, for effective and smooth functioning of the body.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told newspersons here that the Amendment will provide for the possibility of appointment of a suitable person who is holding or has held the post of at least Additional Secretary, or an equivalent post, in the Central government to the post of Director General of ICWA.
The Director General,ICWA, will hold office for a period not exceeding three years and will be eligible for re-appointment to that office once, provided that no person shall hold office as Director after attaining the age of 65 years.
