Bajaj Auto, Maruti India win top honours at Auto Monitor Awards
New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Bajaj Auto and Maruti Suzuki India won the Two-Wheeler Manufacturer of the Year and the Car Manufacturer of the Year award respectively in the fourth edition of the Auto Monitor Awards 2008.
The Tata Motors won the Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year Award, Aurangabad-based Endurance Group, was adjudicated as the Auto Component Manufacturer of the Year while Mahindra&Mahindra Limited (M&M) bagged the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year for the Life Line Express, a mobile hospital that has been offering medical services in far-flung pockets in the State of Uttarakhand.
Speaking on the occasion MD (Infomedia India Ltd) Prakash Iyer said, ''It gives me immense pleasure in bringing you the fourth edition of the Auto Monitor Awards' 08. The awards are instituted to recognize and honour excellence in the automotive field. We are happy that the recognition received through the Auto Monitor Award helps to enhance the prospects and visibility of the winning brands in the market.'' Dr RK Pachauri, Director General, The Energy Resource Institute and the Chairperson of Inter-Governmental Panel On Climate Change was conferred with the title of Auto Monitor Person of the Year in appreciation of his contribution in the area of environmental policy.
Saurabh Singh (31) and Rajesh Kumar Gogu (27) from Maruti Suzuki India were bestowed with the Young Achiever of the Year Award for the A-Star Concept design. The indigenous design initiative by the young designers has been appreciated in India and abroad.
Bajaj Auto also won the award for HR Initiative of the Year Award for rehabilitation of those who opted for VRS Scheme in the company's Waluj facility.
This year the award had two new categories Green Manufacturer of the Year&Logistics Provider of the Year. While SKF Ltd won the Green Manufacturer of the Year Award, Safexpress Ltd bagged Logistic Provider of the Year Award.
