Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) In a bid to unearth hidden talent among the underprivileged students of government schools, SRM University, a leading educational institution in Tamil Nadu, today organised a inter-school cultural programme.

The event, held at the University campus in suburban Kattankulathur, is a prelude to the first edition of Milan-2008, a national-level inter-collegiate cultural festival to be organised by the SRM from March 14 to 16.

About 500 enthusiastic boys and girls from 20 schools in Kancheepuram and Chingleput participated in the day-long event, titled SRM-Butterflies Project.

The students displayed their talent in music and dance with some non-chalant display that kept the packed audience in the University campus spell bound.

Folk music, the Punjabi bhangras, devotional songs and some kollywood hits, reverberated at the hall right through the more than two-hour show, which was interspersed with a magic show and culminated with a dance performance by the students of SRM University.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof P Sathyanarayanan delivered the valedictory address. Noted social worker and Padmasri winner Dr Sarojini Varadappan and Popular actor Rohini distributed the prizes to the winners.
