Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) The festival of Mahashivratri was today celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm in the metropolis.
Thousands of devotees of Lord Shiva thronged the famous Babulnath temple and other Shiv temples across the city, where special arrangements had been made for prayers.
Babulnath temple had made special arrangements for senior citizens and women to offer prayers.
However, other devotees, especially gents had queued up for 'Darshan' from midnight onwards at the temple and the 100-year old Shiva temple at Ambernath about 70 km from here.
On this occasion, devotees offered Chandan, milk, 'bellpatri', 'dhatura', 'tila' and flowers to the 'Shiv-ling.' Groups of North Indians had organised ''puja'' and made an arrangement of ''Prasad'' and ''Bhakti-Geet Sandhya'' in different parts of the city.
