Indian fisherman critically injured in Lankan Navy firing
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Mar 6 (UNI) Hours after the gunning down of a fisherman from this coastal town, another Indian fisherman was critically injured in an unprovoked firing by the Sri Lankan Navy at mid-sea, last night, official sources said.
They said a group of four fishermen were fishing at mid-sea in a mechanised boat, when the Sri Lankan Navy fired indiscriminately at them. In the firing, one Francis (49) suffered bullet injury in his back. The others managed to escape from the firing and hurriedly return to the shores along with Francis, they said.
The critically injured fisherman was admitted to the Government Hospital at Ramanathapuram, where he underwent a surgery, they added.
